Obituary of Harold Ray Conley

Harold Ray Conley, former owner of Harold’s Greenhouse, passed into eternal rest on January 21, 2015 at his home in Bristow, OK surrounded by family. Harold was born in Kiefer, OK on January 9, 1939 and made his early home in the Kiefer/Sapulpa area. After serving in the US Navy, he travelled throughout the US performing oilfield work. He met, fell in love and married his cherished wife of 51 years, Carol (Hawkins) Conley, in 1963. They had four children together; Bill Conley, Roger Conley, Rhonda Conley-Sartin and Ben Conley. Harold also had a daughter, Rose DeGraffenreid, from a previous marriage. In addition to his wife, children and their respective spouses, Harold is survived by 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a cousin and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by Edith Conley, Katherine Clark Conley and Will Conley. After marrying his beloved wife, Carol, Harold eventually made his home in Bristow, OK where his love of gardening led him to open Harold’s Greenhouse in the ‘70s. In addition to the plants he grew and sold in his green house Harold made many trips to Mexico for Mexican imports for his gift shop. He also indulged his talent for landscaping and woodworking throughout his life and enjoyed many other hobbies including fishing/noodling, raising birds and other animals, flea markets, bird watching at his bird and hummingbird feeders and visiting obscure areas of Oklahoma ‘treasure seeking’ antique artifacts to add to his collection. In later years, his favorite pastime was sharing his many hobbies and stories of his adventures from yesteryears with others, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time loving and caring for his pets which included four dogs and four cats. Harold’s life and legacy as a husband, father, papa and friend will be celebrated in services at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel in Sapulpa, OK on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:30 am. Services will be followed by interment at Mounds Oakwood Cemetery. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312 / www.greenhillok.com
