Obituary of Grady Reginald Davis

Grady Reginald “Reggie” Davis, age 66, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Reggie was born the oldest of two sons in Sapulpa on November 24, 1949 to Grady Davis and Betty (White) Davis. Reggie attended Sapulpa Schools and developed friendships in his youth that lasted a lifetime. David Scott, Ralph Hayes, Mike McCrory and Kim Stover were some of Reggie’s best friends. Reggie did a brief Stint in the US Marine Corp and that was where he learned to cook. He had several jobs as an adult. He worked for Rainbow Bread Company, Miller Corporation, the railroad, auctions, and he was manager of a video store. Sapulpa was where Reggie’s called home for most of his life but he also lived in Neodesha, Kansas for a few years. He loved to hunt and to fish and he enjoyed his grandchildren and watching them play sports. Reggie was a funny guy and is well known for his humor and kidding around. In fact, if you ever left the table at a restaurant to go to the restroom, he would always say, “Mention my name, you’ll get a good seat.” Some other things the girls remember about their dad; He always dipped his popcorn in mustard, and would buy big pickles for the girls to eat when they were young. If he was eating coneys, they had to mayo on them. He had nicknames for his kids and grandkids and used them instead of their given names (Gina Meena, Carey Canery, Drake was Duck, Bleys was Spike, Edie was Flowerbell and Linkoln was to be Duckling). He went hunting and fishing with his brother Randy, and nephew Tyke and also his best friend David. Preceding Reggie in death are his parents, Grady and Betty Davis, his brother, Randy Davis, best friend, Ralph Hayes. Reggie is Survived by his daughters, Gina Oler and husband Jeff of Tulsa, Ok, Carey Chapman and husband Bryan of Sapulpa, Ok; his grandchildren, Drake Dugan and wife Kayla of Yukon, Ok, Bleys Dugan and girlfriend Hannah Grass, Of Edmond, and Edie Chapman of Sapulpa, Ok; great grandchildren, Jaxson Adams of Yukon, Ok and Linkoln Dugan arriving in August, of Yukon, Ok. He is also survived by nephews Tyke Davis and wife Di and kids, Kami and Keelie all of Sandsprings, Ryan Davis and his family of Texas, his best friend, David Scott and wife Becky as well as many other family and friends. Reggie was always a rough and tough guy on the outside but anyone who knew him, would say he had a heart of gold. He really was just a great big teddy bear. He will always be in our hearts and we will miss having him in our lives. He touched us all. Services are scheduled at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
