Obituary of Arthur Warring Behar

Arthur Warring Behar, known as “Art” by friends and family, passed on August 13, 2016, at the age of 67 in the Oklahoma Muskogee Veterans Hospital. He was born May 31, 1949 in Ponca City, to Alvin Walter Behar and Josephine Constance (Chance) Behar. Art married the love of his life, Linda Joyce Staiger, on July 30, 1971 in Sapulpa. In his younger years, he drove a semi, worked on an offshore oil rig, could fix anything mechanical and there wasn’t a piece of equipment he couldn’t operate. Art could get on a tractor with a box blade and by eye only, make grade on a house foundation. He was a fitter welder by trade. He worked for General Steel, in Tulsa and Riley Southwest, in Sapulpa. He served in the US Army from 1970 – 1973 when he was medically discharged. Art was a hard working, loving and caring son, husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Art was always happy to help anyone, in any way he could. He was happiest spending time with his family and friends. Art enjoyed taking his family to Lake Tenkiller during the summers, when his children were growing up. It was an annual tradition. He loved it when other family and friends would show up to camp with them. He loved to fish, whether it be the lake, spillway or the creek behind his house. He even made his own little boats, to go up by the dam and drop his fishing line in the water. Art also loved to hunt. He looked forward to going on trips to Colorado with friends. On one of those trips, he has the fame of saying, “he made the shot, that he was told, wasn’t possible”. It was a distance of at least a mile, from mountain top to mountain top. With that being said, Art loved teaching his grandchildren to hunt and taking them on trips most. On many Saturday nights, he could be found at JRP Speedway, where he enjoyed watching and passionately cheering on his grandchildren and Chris, as they raced around the track in their cars. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of his life. Art is preceded in death by his father: Alvin Behar of Sapulpa on June 5, 1981; mother: Josephine Behar of Sapulpa on October 3, 1986; sister: Rosa Lee Behar of Ponca City; sister: Josephine Cearley of Tecumseh on September 17, 2014.
