Obituary of Johnny Clarence Way

Johnny Clarence (J.C.) Way marched on to Heaven on Monday, September 19, 2016. With his family present, it seemed he actually comforted them. He was born March 25, 1943 to Ruth Cozette Edwards Way of Thayer, MO and George Edward Way of Wirth, MO. He was married in July, 1964 to the love of his life, Linda Evans. He was so proud of their 52 years together. He grew up on the Sand Springs Line and moved with his family to Kiefer in the late 1950’s. He loved to play guitar and sing country music, but Fall was always reserved for hunting. He was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam in 1967-69. He loved the Vietnamese people. He was shot down while a co-pilot in a Cobra gun ship, the armor piercing round came thru the copter and into his back for which he earned a Purple Heart. He also earned the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm for assisting others to safety. He was honorably discharged. He loved the military and wanted to re-enlist, but his wife Linda, was not in agreement, too many months of drama for her! The military was great for him and he wished many times he had stayed. Instead, he went to school on his GI Bill and got a degree for drafting which he loved. He worked for CE Natco for many years, PSO and Englobal Engineering. He is survived by his wife, Linda, along with two children, Jason Scott Way, Gina Lynn Way and four grandchildren, Jason Manuel Way, Cera Nicole Way, Lauren Jaye Filion and Tatiana Winter, all of Tulsa; a nephew, Fabian Wayne Hollingshead of Sand Springs; sister-in-law, Rita Lee and husband, Ed of Beggs; Judy Gordon and husband, Floyd of Wynnewood, OK. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, George and Ruth Way; his sister, Georgia Hollingshead and her husband Wayne of Sand Springs. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 am in Tulsa at Victory Christian Center at 7700 South Lewis Ave. and will be officiated by Pastor Sharon Daugherty. He will be laid to rest at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Honors. The family has entrusted their loved one to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
