Obituary of Norman Ray James

Norman Ray James was born August 15, 1931 in Paris, Arkansas and passed peacefully on to Heaven February 5, 2017. He was the 4th of nine children born to Harvey Jackson James and Jessie Elba Shirley. They were Share Croppers and later Harvey was a Coal Miner in Arkansas. Norman served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After his service he married Betty Lou Applegate in Sand Springs, OK and with a young son moved his family to Southern California for 20 years. He worked as a mechanic at Hughes Aircraft and later owned his own service stations in California. He missed his family in Oklahoma and moved his family back to Oklahoma in 1971. He opened Sapulpa Auto Lab in the early 70s with his wife and their sons joined them later. He was a gifted auto mechanic and could build or fix anything. He enjoyed his cars, golf, hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, baseball and his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, 3 brothers; Gene of Muldrow, Lowell of Eufala and George of Sand Springs, OK, 2sisters; Juanita Maddon of Tulsa and Catherine Lowe of Sapulpa. He is survived by his 2 sons; Ricky Leon James of Tulsa and Michal Ray James of Florida; daughter Vicky Lynn Garrison and her husband Larry of Tulsa, their son Gordon J. Garrison and his wife Margarita of Kiefer, OK; his brother Leroy James and his wife Irene of Sand Springs; two sisters, Cleta Gordon of Sapulpa and Oleta Haines of Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews. We will see you soon and will miss you greatly. We Love You. A Memorial Service is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.
