Obituary of Viola Magdalene Parcell

Viola Magdalene (Tibbets) Parcell passed away March 20, 2017 at the age of 86. She was born Christmas Day, December 25, 1930, in Checotah, Oklahoma to parents William Earnest and Earey Velvie (Rouell) Tibbets. She was one of 7 children with siblings Vera Mae, Alfred Cleo, Earnice Nellie, Theo Arthur, Cecilia Murel and Mickey Violet. Viola attended Wainwright Elementary School and Pryor High School and later was her family’s business bookkeeper. Viola and Eugene J. Parcell were married August 2, 1949 by a justice of the peace in Pryor, OK. Their marriage was blessed with 3 children: Brenda Jean, Darrell Wayne and Pamela Sue. Viola was baptized into the Baptist Church August 26, 2007. She loved to sew and enjoyed water skiing, even though she could not swim. Viola loved traveling, her travels spanned from Alaska to Florida. She often went on hunting trips as an excuse to travel. She and her husband, Gene, began with an overhead camper and continued to upgrade until they had a large coach. Viola took up horseback riding later in life just to spend more time with Gene. She was very stylish and often took grandkids shopping at the mall wearing a pencil skirt and high heels. She was a forward thinking woman and ahead of her time. In high school she failed a test because she answered a question stating, “men would walk on the moon.” While watching the moon landing she commented to her family that it was too bad she couldn’t remind the teacher that he didn’t believe it was possible. She was very funny and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to “eat out” and would beat you to the car when it was time to go. She believed that the way to a woman’s heart was to make reservations. Viola was preceded in death by parents William and Earey Tibbets; son Darrell Parcell; brothers Alfred and Theo Tibbets; brother-in-law Buck Avers; and son-in-law Darold Murray. She is survived by daughters Brenda Hallman and husband Leon; and Pamela Murray; sisters Vera Parcell and husband Mark; Earnice Smith and husband Harold; Cecilia Rose and husband Joe; and Mickey Hanel and husband Al; sisters-in-laws Charlotte Tibbets; and Orvella Tibbets; grandchildren Jeevan Uttamchandani; Jarrod Murray; Jashrie Uttamchandani; and Shannon Huerta and husband Tony; a precious great-grandchild Maelynn Uttamchandani as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed. They will cherish many beautiful, and often funny, memories of her until they see her again.
