Obituary of Forest Odell Freeman

Forest “Odell” Freeman Odell is survived by his wife Pauline, of 58 years and 8 months. He has 4 children daughter, Tracy Bevard (Husband Michael), son, Dennis Freeman (wife Debbie), daughters, Janet Jones (husband Brian) and Elisha March (Husband Frank).10 grandchildren, spouses to those grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, all in all 47. Not bad from just 2 people in the beginning. Sister, Linda Milrun (husband Sqeeky), Brother, Leon Freeman. A host of family and friends. He retired from Hale Hasell after 32 years of faithful service. In his life he worked several jobs in order to give his family all the things they needed. The important things that our dad taught us was to be faithful, trusting, caring, giving, loyal and most of all if you gave your word you stand by it. Always help if you can without expecting anything in return. Always leave it better, than you got it and never go to sleep angry. He loved working outside. In his younger years he would go hunting with just about anyone that asked. He loved deer, squirrel, rabbit, pheasant, quail and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed mowing and hay seasons. Planting tomatoes and watching his pecan trees bloom with the fruit he loved so much. In the spring he waited for the pesky squirrels to keep them from eating his pecans. If they came near well let’s say they got their wings. He would sit at night in his favorite chair with an old ice cream bucket in his lap cracking those pecans. If he did not get enough off his trees, the family always made sure he had some. Sometimes more than he can do. He really enjoyed going to Roaring River to fish for trout. The family trips always was such a big deal to him. He would just sit around the bank, pole in had ready for the buzzer to sound and spend the whole day trying to make his quota. But more importantly he just wanted to be around his family. In the past few years, he loved doing the circuit, those one arm bandits. He tried and sometimes he would win. He enjoyed watching us get excited if we won 14 cents. The money did not matter to him it was the fact that we were there with him. It was not unusual for him to say let’s go have a steak, when asked where at? Dad would say Golden Corral. He said they had the best ones and he could eat as much as he wanted. So the most important thing is he LOVED his family. Each one of us has the most amazing memories that will go in our hearts.
