Obituary of Edward Lee Stephens

Edward Lee Stephens, age 75, passed from this life on Friday, August 11, 2017, surround by his family.  He was born March 22, 1942 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Everett and Hazel Stephens.

Edward married Joyce Gilbert on June 10, 1960.  They enjoyed 57 years of marriage together, making Sapulpa their home.

He attended Sapulpa High School and upon completion, Edward went to work with his father in the oilfield working for LB Jackson Company.  He then received an offer of employment at Big 4 Foundry, where he worked for several years with his brother before accepting a position with DuPont.  Edward enjoyed his job as a Plastic Extrusion Operation and became Shift Supervisor before retiring from Uponor Aldyl Company.

Edward was a family man.  He enjoyed fishing for sand bass at Lake Hudson and in the afternoon he enjoyed relaxing in the swimming pool with his kids and grandkids.  Another favorite of his was attending his grandkids sporting events and livestock shows.  He was an avid OU fan and loved nothing more than to be surround by his family on game day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Hazel Stephens and his brothers, Bobby and Charles Stephens.  He is survived by his wife, Joyce Stephens, and their children, daughter Pam Brown and friend David Hoffmann, son James Stephens and wife Melissa, daughter Cheryl Cheesman and husband Tom; his grandchildren Jessica and Brice Hill, Derrick Cheesman, Erin and Tyler Laird, Kara Brown and friend Owen McDevitt, Chelsea Cheesman, Kourtney Brown and Caleb Stephens; 5 great grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Faye Radford; and numerous friends and family.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Green Hill funeral Home located at 400 E. Teel Road, Sapulpa, OK.

Services will held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at First Baptist Church located at 200 S. Elm St. Sapulpa, OK.  Interment to follow at Sunrise Cemetery, Kellyville, OK.  The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill funeral Home.  9182242312 / www.greenhillok.com
