Obituary of Ethel Kathleen Mercer

Ethel Kathleen (Bunch) Mercer, known by friends and family as Kathy, took her first breath July 25, 1945 in Lamar, Arkansas.  She was born to Fred and Maxie Bunch.  She was one of 6 children.  Kathy took her last breath on December 19th, 2017 in Glenpool, Oklahoma at the Glenpool Nursing Center.

 

Kathy attended Sapulpa Schools and married Ronnie Mercer on March 28, 1965 and together with his daughter, Mary Louise, they became a family.  The couple later adopted 2 boys to complete their family, Steven Strain and Donald Strain, Jr. 

 

Kathy worked as a unit secretary at Bartlett Medical Center for many years.  She and her husband Ronnie enjoyed bowling together when they were younger.  She also enjoyed many crafts and loved making things for people.  She was always sewing, tatting or crocheting.  Many friends and family received blankets, sweaters and other homemade gifts over the years.

 

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, son Steven Strain, brother Teddy and sister Josephine Bunch.  She is survived by her husband Ronnie Mercer; daughter Mary Louise Clagg; son Donald Strain, Jr. and daughter-in-law Cassandra Strain; siblings Virginia; Jackie and husband Delbert; and Ruth Ann and husband J.C; as well as sister-in-law Norma.  She is also survived by grandchildren Jacob, Rhiannon, Kayla, Donavan, Jamie, Nathan, Jonathan, Rayden and many great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, December 22, 2017 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.  Visitation is Thursday from 12-8 pm.  400 E. Teel Rd.  918-224-2312
