Obituary of Artis Clarence Phillips

Artis Clarence Phillips was born in Indian Oaks, Texas on October 12, 1941 to parents Clarence and Faye Phillips.  He went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2018.  He was 76 years old.

Art was raised in Texas, with siblings Jerry and Arlene, and later moved to Oklahoma.  He served as a Lay Pastor at the Bethesda Boy’s Ranch for 26 years.  He was in the United States Navy Reserve from 1988 – 1996, serving his country during the Gulf War.  After retiring from the boy’s ranch, he worked as a Social Worker for DHS.  He continued this career for 12 years.  Art married Marilyn Phillips on August 20, 1982.  The couple shared nearly 36 years of marriage.

Art had a good sense of humor.  He liked to joke and have fun.  He was hardworking, kind, and considerate of those around him.  He spent time on his computer and enjoyed historical research about people and places.  Art also liked yard work and kept his yard neatly groomed.  Next to loving the Lord, Art loved his family.  He enjoyed spending time with his son and grandchildren as well as his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Phillips and Faye Gubert and brother Jerry Phillips.  He leaves behind his wife Marilyn Phillips; son Steven Phillips and his wife Adaline; grandchildren Madison, Halee and Katyland Phillips; great-grandson Micah Phillips; and sister Arlene Sullivan.

Art loved God completely and he dedicated his life to the service of the Lord.  His faithful service and compassionate nature will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services are scheduled at 10:30 am Wednesday at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.  Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 on Tuesday.  The family has entrusted the services to Green Hill Funeral Home.  9182242312
