Obituary of Mary "MC" Catherine Davis

Mary Catherine (MC) Davis, age 84, died on Friday, January 5, 2018, after an 11-year battle with Alzheimer’s, at the Clarehouse, a caring and loving hospice in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She was born June 16, 1933 in Mena, Arkansas to Jesse Clyde and Nettie Clyne (Anders) Harris and was the youngest of two children.

MC was joined in marriage to her college sweetheart Arthur Gene Davis.  On December 15th, they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.  From their union, they had a daughter, Shannan, and a son, Jonathan.

After retiring from teaching and coaching for 41 years she spent her time playing bridge and tennis, knitting, and quilting.  She traveled to the west coast and on to Hawaii.  Then went to the east coast and the cities in between to see her daughter and grandson, wherever they were living.  She walked every day that she was able and loved to walk on the beaches that she traveled to.  As the matriarch of the family she hosted all the holiday dinners and baked holiday goodies with her grandkids.  As an avid sports fan and doting grandparent, she enjoyed going to all of her grandchildren’s sporting events.  She was a Gilly at Gilcrease Museum for 10 years and a member of the Red Hat Society.

MC is survived by her husband Art, her daughter Shannan and grandson Tristan of Sapulpa, her son Jonathan, daughter-in-law Angela (extended family Skip and Sue Pettit), granddaughter Jordan and grandsons Antonio and Alex of Broken Arrow.  She is also survived by her niece MelvaJean and her husband Bob Hawkins, her grandnephews Eric and David Brown and her nephew and niece Larry and Pam Davis and grandnephew Jason Davis all of Tulsa.

MC is preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Lewis Harris.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, 1401 East Taft Avenue, Sapulpa, Oklahoma with the Senior Pastor Dr. Allen Schneider officiating.

The Davis family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the St Francis Hospice and the Clarehouse for their attentiveness and loving care.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in MC’s name to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research or the Clarehouse (clarehouse.org) of Tulsa.
