Harold Dean Gaston, known as Cotton to most and Gabby to his horseshoe buddy’s, 86, of Sperry left this world peacefully in sleep for his new heavenly home March 3, 2018.

He was born 3rd day 2nd month 1932 (this is the way he would answer someone when they asked his birthday) in Bentonville, Arkansas to Olen H. Gaston and Pearl Mull. He was 1 of 6 children.

He attended Roosevelt school. He then married the love of his life, Aura Mae Stanfield on May 27, 1951. He always said, “I traded a 4 legged filly for a 2 legged filly” so he could have money to get married. They were blessed with 5 children.

He worked at Uba, National Tank, Conrad and Cust-o-fab where he was a machinist and drill press operator.  He retired from Cust-o-fab.

He enjoyed his life, his family, his kids, rodeos, calf roping, bull riding, his grandkids, and playing horseshoes. While playing horseshoes in the Sr. Olympics he has earned 9 state titles in Oklahoma, 3 state titles in Texas and he was planning to compete in Arkansas, but after taking state in Texas the officials in Arkansas declined their offer and he was not able to play. He also earned a first and fifth world title in Ohio and Canada.  He was inducted in to hall of fame in 2011. He loved the time he has with his siblings. They were all very close and would go on vacations together. They were a true example of family. He loved spending time watching the grandkids play sports and attending scouting events. He loved also enjoyed working at the church when he was able.
