Obituary of Marilyn Anita Rhoden

Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marilyn Anita Rhoden Born August 19, 1957 in Kansas City, MO. One of five kids to Clifford and Irene Henley. In the early 1960`s, they moved to Oklahoma City to an old two-story house for a while and then moved to Bethany, OK. One of her first jobs was working at a theater concession stand. She had no transportation so Michelle would take her to work and come back later to pick her up before closing and she would get in free to watch a movie and eat popcorn. They would then go cruising the streets and get burgers, later they moved in together. While in high school she started playing softball. She loved playing ball. After school she joined the National Guard. She loved going to drill in Tulsa, sometimes Michelle would go to Tulsa on drill weekends and after that they would go out. Once on the way home they had a flat, so she jumped out and started changing it, when some guys stopped to help, she did not stop and said no thanks, I got it! That was Marilyn. Later, about a year, Jessee came to the unit later when summer camp came along at Ft. Bliss Texas to white sands missile range, (The desert sand and dunes) we were out in the desert for a couple days. When we came back in, a bunch of us were at the mess eating and Marilyn was setting across from Jessee. After eating, she took her shirt sleeve and wiped her mouth with it, like a smart ASS, Jess pulled a napkin and gave it to her, she turned a little red (just for a sec) then took it and said Thank You in a sarcastic way and about eight of us started laughing, she is the one who started the laughing, and we have been joined at the hips ever since. Our first year of marriage when we were at summer camp at NG Training, she got put in an area that was not cleared good and she got over 130 chigger bites when they stopped counting on both legs even though her pant legs were bloused. She was miserable. Her first job in Tulsa was a city bus driver. She loved driving a bus with a steering wheel almost bigger than her. She liked driving anything, big vans, forklift trucks, delivery trucks, tractors, but did not like the mower too much. Later, in life she started playing pool, she joined a pool league after a few years. She could hold her own against most players. That ended up being her girl’s night out, she always had a good time with good friends and loved it. She is survived by her loving husband; Jessee Rhoden, kids; Jaye Rhoden Martin and Travis Rhoden. Son-in-law; Scott Martin, grandbaby; Zia Martin, and Sister; Sharon Heneger of Oregon. She is preceded in death by her parents; Irene and Clifford Henley, brothers; Vernon Henley, Allen Henley and Ron Henley.
