Obituary of Ramona Faye Hurt

Ramona Faye Hurt was born on August 11, 1934 to Tom and Polly Haley. Ramona entered into the arms of our Savior on the morning of November 11^th 2018. She was 84 years and 3 months old. Ramona graduated from Dewar High School in 1952. She was saved and baptized at the age of 13 at Dewar First Baptist Church. Ramona worked as a Lehr inspector at Liberty Glass for 47 years where she trained many employees, including her children to follow in her footsteps in the glass industry. Ramona was known for her family dinners. She loved cooking and having everyone come to visit. It didn’t matter when you stopped by, she would make you anything you wanted right then and there. And her ham! The famous ham that she cooked every Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day was sure to be talked about year round. No one could beat Monas baked ham. Ramona loved to go to the bingo hall, the casino, to garage sales & auctions. She had an amazing green thumb and could revive any plant you had. There are trees in her yard that grew from a single twig. Monas kitchen table was home to many for coffee, food and conversation. Everyone who sat at her table was considered family. Ramona lived a rich life full of love and laughter and will be missed by her family and friends.

Ramona was preceded in death by Tom Haley- father, Polly Haley- Mother, Jim Shoun- StepFather, Tandy Haley- brother, Louis Earnest-brother, Audie Ernest Walker-sister and James Norman Hurt-son.

Ramona was survived by: Her loving husband of 60 years, Bob Hurt. 1 sister and her husband, Linda and Sonny Been and 1 sister-in-law, Wanda Haley. 4 children and their spouses: Bobby and Angie Hurt, Cathy & Jeff Balthis, Woodie & Jana Hurt and Mike Hurt. Her best friend, Janie Cole. 21 grandchildren and spouses: Cassie & Oscar Pound, Michael Champlain, Kimberlie & Kevin O’Donnell, David & Jamie Balthis, Willie Balthis, Debbie and Robbie Pigg, Sarah and Trevor Dowdy, Railey and Devlin McVicker, Jacob Hurt, Reba and Francisco Menendez, Justin Hurt, Matt Hurt, Sandra and Chase Shaffer, Shelly Hurt, Brian and Sherry Hurt, Rachel Hurt, Lacy Rankin, Wesley Miller, Josh Castleberry, Stefan Castleberry and Bobby Joe III. 33 great grandchildren: Evan, Jake, Logan, Blake, Maddux, Haley, Adalyn, Jason, Renna, Jadyn, Connor, Easton, Ellie, Rylan, Erica, Autumn, Lilah, Cash, Sophie, Francisco, Malakai, Claire, Casen, Chase, Dustin, Tiea, Melanie, Gabe, Nick, Connor, Noah, Kinsley and Hadley. Countless other family and friends.

There will be a viewing at Green Hill Chapel on November 15^th from 5pm-8pm.

The celebration of life will be held on November 16, 2018 at 1pm at Green Hill Chapel, 400 E Teel Rd. Sapulpa, Ok 74066 with Oscar Pound officiating.

Ramona will be laid into her final resting place, next to her son at Salt Creek Cemetery in Wilson, Oklahoma immediately following the service. Family and friends are encouraged to join the family at the home of Cathy & Jeff Balthis following the burial.
