Obituary of Theresa Joyce Wiggins

Theresa was born in Okeene, Oklahoma and graduated from Okeene High School in May 1972.  She attended Phillips University of Enid in the Fall of 1972 through Spring of 1973. Theresa moved to Texas and finished her Associates Degree at a Texas Jr. college before moving on to Indiana where she worked various jobs.

Theresa returned to Okeene in December of 1978 to visit friends and family and it was during her visit, her cousin, Pam Oswalt, introduced her to Michael Dale Wiggins by setting her up on a “New Year's Eve blind date”. This coming December 31st will be the 40th Anniversary of that very special blind date which began a long and beautiful life journey as Theresa married Michael shortly thereafter on Mar 12th, 1979. They lived in Enid, Oklahoma for the next 10 years and were blessed with their beautiful daughter Lindi Marie Wiggins on Feb 25, 1983.

Theresa began her career as an Oil and Gas Landman in 1980 working for Ken Wofford and Associates in Enid, Oklahoma and eventually went to work in the land department for Harold Hamm.  While on business at Hamm’s office in April of 1989, Randy Bodenhamer and Jack Kessler discovered her tremendous skill set for multi-tasking.  Randy came home full of excitement stating he had found the perfect person to add to R.A. Bodenhamer & Associates as she could be on the phone negotiating with an owner, type an oil and gas lease and smoke a cigarette all at the same time.  Randy and Jack somehow convinced her to move the family to Tulsa in June of 1989 where she continued working with them for the next 15 years.  Theresa continued as an independent landman working with various Oil and Gas companies throughout the remainder of her career.

Theresa was a long-time member of the Tulsa Association of Petroleum Landmen (TAPL), the American Association of Petroleum Landmen (AAPL) and earned the distinction of a Certified Professional Landman (CPL) back in the 90’s. Theresa was also an active leader in the Desk and Derrick Club of Tulsa for many years and greatly enjoyed her membership at the Petroleum Club of Tulsa.  She also earned the title of becoming the Petroleum Club’s first woman president.

Theresa was a gifted musician and played the piano and organ whenever she could.  She enjoyed playing at her church and can be fondly remembered playing during the holiday season at the Petroleum Club.

Theresa was an avid golfer. She loved to play various courses around Tulsa and especially liked going to the annual TAPL/AAPL meetings in Dallas and playing at Los Colinas Country Club. Her golfing foursome for many years included herself, Karen Reed of Tulsa, Kathy Robinson Renegar of Tulsa and Kelly Hightower of Oklahoma City.

Theresa was preceded in death by her father and mother, William George and Roseanne Weber Bisel, and one brother Kelly George Bisel.  Theresa is survived by Michael and Lindi of the home, Karen Bisel (Kelly's wife) of Chandler, Oklahoma, her second brother, Neal O. Bisel and spouse Leigh Anne Bisel, of Okeene, Oklahoma, Nephew's, Bret Bisel, of Jenks, Joshua Bisel and Jeremiah Bisel of Chandler, Nieces, Brooke Bisel Kusch, Brittany Jo Bisel Attaway of Okeene and Jessica Bisel an Cassandra Bisel of Chandler.

Theresa is also survived by three grandchildren, Celeste Grace Wiggins, David Wesley Self, Jr and Alessa Joyce Self of Sapulpa, Oklahoma.

Memorial Services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel. 400 E. Teel Rd. Sapulpa 918-224-2312
