Obituary of Carolyn Kay Harjo

Carolyn Kay (Sanders) Harjo was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma September 27, 1944 to Nolan and Olcia Sanders.  She stepped into eternity to be with her Lord in Heaven on November 29, 2018 at the age of 74.

Carolyn grew up in West Tulsa and graduated from Webster High School.  After completing high school her compassionate nature led her to work with physically and mentally challenged children.  She continued this rewarding career for many years.  In June of 1988, she and her best friend Ruth Jones, moved to Belleville, Kansas where she worked for 13 years at Precision Dynamics.  She returned to Oklahoma in 2001.

After a divorce Carolyn raised her son Brian as a single mother, working to ensure he had what he needed both physically and spiritually.  She kept him in church and on the right path with her love and guidance.  She was a Christian and a kind, gentle and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was always there for her family.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Nolan and Olcia Sanders; siblings Shirley Layton, Lloyd Sanders and Gary Sanders; and best friend Ruth Jones.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory son Brian Harjo and wife Bekah of Beggs, OK; sister Joyce Hollingsworth of Bixby, OK; grandchildren Sheridan Harjo; Darrius Matthews and Melanie Matthews; great-granddaughter Isabelle Harjo; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Funeral Services are scheduled at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Monday at Green Hill.  918-224-2312
