Obituary of Mildred Marie Pierce

Mildred “Marie” (Tolbert) Pierce was born in Paris, Arkansas September 15, 1926 to James and Nora Tolbert.  She passed away December 13, 2018 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 92.

Marie was a hard worker.  She was hands on with everything she did.  She and her husband, Melvin James Pierce, Sr., built their house and she was very active in the planning and building of their home.  She was very artistic and enjoyed decorating as well as working in her yard.  She kept it beautiful arranged and immaculately groomed.  She was good at crafting and crochet as well.  She was very family oriented and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She and her husband started the Terlton Senior Citizen Center.  She wrote grants and they even put up their own funds to make the center a reality.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents James and Nora Tolbert; her husband Melvin James Pierce, Sr.; sisters Roby Greenlee, baby girl Tolbert, Anna “Lois” Whittington, Naomi Winters and Nila Dubberke; brothers James “Carl” Tolbert, Paul Tolbert and John Tolbert.  She is survived by 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
