Obituary of Jimmy R. Meyer

 

Jimmy Royce Meyer, 80, of Sapulpa, passed away April 4, 2019 at Homestead of Owasso in Owasso, Oklahoma.  He was born May 27, 1938 in Shawnee, Oklahoma and was the only child of Bennie & Mildred (Marshall) Meyer.

 

Jimmy grew up in Shawnee, Oklahoma where he attended School and graduated from Shawnee High School and went on to attend OSU.  He was very involved in raising prize cattle and earned many ribbons at the county fairs and was a member of the FFA.  He loved playing sports in school.

 

Jimmy married Sharon Lee (Rouse) Meyer January 15, 1960 and had 2 children, Kim Kidd of Oklahoma City, OK and Ben Meyer of Tulsa, OK. They divorced July 8, 1983.

 

Jimmy later married Susan K. (Cook) Meyer January 8, 1984 and received 2 bonus children Debra Benson of Owasso, OK and Michael “Frank” Barclay Jr. of Owasso, OK.

 

Jimmy is survived by 2 Children, Kim Kidd and Ben Meyer and 2 Step Children Debra Benson & Michael “Frank” Barclay Jr. and wife Opal; 6 Grandchildren, Jordan Meyer, Kiley Meyer, Alex Harrison, Garion Harrison, Kelly Haws and husband Paul, and Gary Batt and wife Danielle; 5 great-grandchildren, Trenton Ohanesian, Donevin Lewis, Natalya Tucker, Courtney Haws, and Paul Matthew Haws; a step brother David Myers, cousin Sandy Best, a niece and many other close friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his Wife Susan (Cook) Meyer; parents Bennie & Mildred (Marshall) Meyer & Step Dad Harry Myers.

 

Jimmy spent many years working as a salesman.  He always provided for his family, and they were never short on his love.  Jimmy had a great sense of humor and a great laugh.  He enjoyed socializing and watching all sports with his favorites being Football and Golf. He was an active member of the Sapulpa Elks Lodge 1118 for many years. He enjoyed going antique shopping and visiting with his family.  Jimmy made an impression on everyone he met.

 

Jimmy touched many lives in his lifetime and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

 

Visitation - Sunday April 8, 2019 from 1:00 - 4:00pm at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel Sapulpa.

Funeral Service - Monday April 9, 2019 at 10:00am at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel Sapulpa.
