Obituary of Edith Juanita Dykes

Edith Juanita (Sanders) Dykes went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2019 at the age of 77.  She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Earl and Evelyn Sanders on July 17, 1941.

Edith grew up in the West Tulsa area. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.  She liked growing both flowers and vegetables.  She loved fishing and went as often as someone would take her.  She especially liked catching crappie but was happy with catfish as well.  She enjoyed the little ones in the family and especially loved babies.  She liked cooking and often made a big pot of beans and asked family to come over and share the meal with her.  She was teased that she was with beans like “Bubba Gump” was with shrimp.  She could cook every type and in any way imaginable.  Edith had ornery personality and she was a spit fire.  She was little but she was mighty.  She called family members for lunch and/or dinner so often she almost had her very own food delivery service.  Sometimes she called more than one person and received more than one meal at a time.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Evelyn Sanders; sons Billy and Clarence Dykes and an infant son who died at birth; siblings Kenneth Sanders, Earl Sanders, Carolyn Holt and June Reagan.  She is survived by her daughter Brenda Dykes; grandson Justin Treadaway; sister Ruth Ellis; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are scheduled at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial is in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 10 am until 3 pm on Friday prior to the service.  The family has entrusted the services to Green Hill Funeral Home.  400 E.
