Obituary of Lillian Pauline Wilson

Please share a memory of Lillian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lillian Pauline Gardner Wilson went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 31, 2025, at the age of 85.  She was born April 17, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur James and Elizabeth Mae Gardner.  Lillian was the second of six children, in this order:  Arthur Gardner, Lillian, Barbara Gardner (deceased), Roger Gardner, Judy Gardner Guildner, and Janis Gardner Ruetz.  Lillian maintained a close relationship with her younger brother and sisters, and often enjoyed meeting up with them throughout the years.

Lillian grew up in Necedah, Wisconsin.  After graduation, she ended up in Des Moines, Iowa where she met her soul mate, Harvey Leroy Wilson.  They were married on May 26, 1961, in Des Moines.  Harvey became ordained as a minister early in their marriage and she became a preacher’s wife.  Lillian faithfully served the Lord alongside Harvey throughout their marriage.

Lillian was blessed with three children and their spouses: Julie Rice and husband Aaron, Diane Jackson and husband Eric, and Tim Wilson; five grandchildren: Rachel, Jason, Thomas, Kasey and Tara; and (after many long years according to her), five great grandchildren Blair, Corinne, Niall, Daniel, and Lumi whom of which were her pride and joy.  She could always be counted on to show pictures of her beloved great grandchildren when asked.

Lillian was heartbroken when Harvey passed away in 2007 and missed him every day for the rest of her life.  Church played a major role in her life.  She belonged to the congregation of First Christian Church of Sapulpa.  Being involved in the church helped fill the void in her life after Harvey died.  Lillian was a member of the Joyned Together Ministry at the church.  She participated in many activities organized by Sharron and loved all the ladies in her group.

Some of Lillian’s favorite things – the color blue, dogs, birds (especially Cardinals), baseball (Angels and Cardinals were her two favorite teams), shopping (Ross and Kohls were her favorites), clothes, hot tea, chocolate, fruit, and baking.  Some of her not so favorite things – cats, starlings, squirrels, snow (she always said she saw enough of that growing up), and technology of any kind.

On January 31, 2025, Lillian left us to join her beloved Harvey in Heaven.  While family and friends grieve for her, we are comforted knowing she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is watching over us from above.

A memorial service for Lillian will be held on Saturday February 8, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Sapulpa (220 East Lee Ave.).  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Joyned Together Ministry, c/o First Christian Church, Sapulpa.
