Obituary of Rebecca Gayle Simmons

Please share a memory of Rebecca to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rebecca Gayle Simmons (McLain), who left us on February 17, 2025, at the age of 75. Becky was born on January 20, 1950, in Tulsa, OK and lived a life filled with love, kindness, and remarkable memories.

Becky was always known for unwavering love and support for her children and family, taking care of her siblings, parents, neighborhood children, and anyone who needed a helping hand. She shared her passion for providing for others and has always encouraged her children to pursue opportunities to continue learning. Becky began her career with the Pro-Mark Company in Tulsa. When the company was sold, she returned to her hometown of Sapulpa and dedicated many years of service to Creek County in the County Assessor’s office. After retirement she continued to touch the lives of many within the community with her kind heart and unwavering support.

Memories of visiting Becky will likely include her dogs, pictures of her son Larry’s skydiving adventures, her grandchildren, and Jessie’s softball players throughout the years. Becky’s dogs were always full of personality - from Mitzi climbing the chain-link fence to “inspect” the neighbor’s belongings that then had to be left in a box at the end of the drive for everyone to collect the next day, to Teddy sitting in her lap protecting her from the birds and squirrels outside. She enjoyed her calm country living watching the cows raise their calves, but many were not aware of her love for sports cars. She was known in the family for burning rubber in her daughter Sherry’s Ford Mustang to get weekend groceries, even though she denied doing it -with an impish grin - until her final days. You could also find her sitting in her lawn chair cheering for her daughter Jessica on the softball field, while entertaining all the girls’ younger siblings. Becky’s home was one where everyone came together to eat a meal while sharing memories for hours. She built a community of friends who became family.

Becky is survived by her children: Sherry, Larry, Jessica with husband Bill, and stepson Kenny; grandchildren: Gail with husband Luis, Colton, Eleanor, Dillon, and Adeline; great-grandchildren: Miranda, Maia, and Ezequiel; sisters: Pat, Peggy, and Ari; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jessie; her mother and father Frankie and Bob; siblings Tommy, Don, Jimmy, Jane, and Bobby; and her son-in-law Tim.

There will be no memorial service, following Becky's wishes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the John 3:16 Mission, or another local charity of your choosing in honor of Becky.

Becky will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts. May she rest in peace.
