Obituary of Marcella Mae Whitchurch

Please share a memory of Marcella to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marcella Mae Whitchurch, a homemaker and long-time resident of Kiefer, was called home to be with her Lord on March 2, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born to Morris and Mildred Andrews in Barnsdall, Oklahoma on July 2, 1930. She lived there until she met Ed Whitchurch. They were joined in marriage on April 13, 1946, and  celebrated 70 years together.

Ed and Marcella started Helmco, Ltd. In 1962 and together they ran it until 1998. She was a wonderful mother to their 4 children and was by far their biggest supporter. She was an amazing cook and was famous for her homemade rolls and noodles. Marcella had a favorite place to go, Elgin, Kansas. Gran, or Granny, as she was known as by so many, would sometimes take the grandchildren and great grandchildren with her. The memories they made together on those trips are priceless.

Marcella’s top priority in her life was the Lord. She read her Bible every single day and got down on her knees at night to pray before bed. In her later years, she needed a pillow to kneel on but still kneeled to pray. She was a longtime member of the Community Freewill Baptist Church in Kiefer. She had the kindest heart and was an inspiration to everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents Morris and Mildred Andrews, her husband Ed Whitchurch, her daughter and son-in-law Connie and Paul Selsor, her grandson Paul Selsor Jr., daughter Berniece Duty and siblings Iona Willams, Lowella Loggins, and Bonnie Gillett Loggins.

She is survived by her sons Eddie Whitchurch and wife Deborah, and John Whitchurch, grandchildren Michelle Dicus, J.P. Selsor and wife Kerri, Eddie Whitchurch Jr., Misty Linker and husband Chris, Paula Ford and husband Tommy, Matt Halderman and wife Dana, Christy Tharp and husband Scott, Kelli Burch, and Keri Crofut and husband Dayton, 21 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.
