Vivian Sams

Obituary of Vivian Elizabeth Sams

Please share a memory of Vivian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Vivian was born on January 8, 1941, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, at home. She was the youngest of seven children. She was a resident of Creek County for her whole life and was raised in the 7th Day Adventist Church. The church provided Vivian the foundation and love of the Lord.

She married Eddie Ray Glantz, together they had Yvonne Glantz. Then, she married Ronald Marvin, and they had Freddie and Raymond Marvin. She and Ronald were part of the Creek County Bow Hunters Groups. They enjoyed hunting and traveling with the group to several areas in Oklahoma and Colorado. Lastly, she married Sonny Sams. She and Sonny lived in Whispering Hills in Mounds for 30 years, being one of the first residents to the area. She found peace in life with Sonny and the home they built together.

Vivian worked hard all her life at various types of jobs. She ended up at Walmart, retiring after 30 years.

Vivian was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. She was always willing to reach out and help anyone. She loved working outside, raising chickens, hunting, fishing and developing her land; she could be found sitting on her lawn mower until it was dark outside. She was also the type of lady to bait her own hook. She passed her enjoyment of the outdoors to her children.

As a parent, Vivian loved her children, showing it with country music and dancing at home. She was natural at being joyous and fun. The Wickham family would occasionally gather to play and sing country music; these were lovely memories made for all involved. She had a warm heart and a welcoming smile, her most recognizable traits. This made her so perfect as a door greeter at Walmart.

Her final years were spent in Sapulpa living with her daughter Yvonne, not far from her son Raymond and granddaughter Chelsea. Vivian always had her family around her and loved being in the thick of their daily lives. She also loved spending afternoons with her sister-in-law Ruth, having shakes from Sonic, just watching the world go by.

Vivian is preceded in death by her mother Lena Wickham, husband Sonny Sams, brothers Steven, Johnny, Jerome, Bill and Vernon Wickham, sister Emily Ortego, daughter Yvonne Bean and grandson Jeremy Glantz.

She is survived by her children Ray Marvin and wife Joann and Freddie Cornelius and husband Mark, and Starla Roth, grandchildren Chelsea Marvin, Savannah Kennell, Patrick Stone, Aubree Stone, Jimmy Roth, Willie Roth and Shari Carrillo, great grandchildren Braylon Hooks, Huxley Kennell, Jayden Glantz, and Romani Keigley, sisters-in-law Ruth and Beverly Wickham, and several nieces and nephews.
