Obituary of Harvey George Harper

Please share a memory of Harvey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Harvey George Harper, 74, of Broken Arrow, OK, left this earth and went to his heavenly home on March 16th, 2025, after a long illness. In the days leading up to his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Harvey was born on June 21st, 1950, in Clayton, OK, to his parents, Gene and Rose Harper (both deceased). He had one sister, Kathy Harper, and one brother, Paul Harper (both deceased). He was married to Judy Pendley Harper on June 5th, 1974; she was the love of his life. Harvey and Judy had a blended family and so quickly became a family of five and then six as they added a new baby. The children are Tammy Quick of Jenks, OK, Michelle Phillips with Husband Zak Phillips of Newalla, OK, Jason Harper of Oklahoma City, OK, and David Mills (deceased). Harvey was a decorated firefighter serving the fire department of Midwest City, OK, for 32 years. He was Assistant Fire Chief for 18 ½ of those years. He was so proud of the work he did with the Midwest City Fire Department. He mentored many young firefighters who looked up to him as a father and grandfather figure. He loved those guys with his whole heart and they were his brothers. Firefighting was not his only job, however. He drove a school bus on his days off, and he owned his own Hazard Materials business. He was one of the leading educators on hazardous materials in the state of Oklahoma. And his most important job was being a husband, father, and grandfather; he did all three with love and did them so well! Harvey loved to play golf, watch football, and, on occasion, play botche ball. He had a great sense of humor and was a natural prankster; he loved to play jokes on his family and friends! Harvey loved his fur babies, and he treated them as if they were his children. He survived many of them, and he left four to keep Judy busy and provide her comfort after his passing. He leaves behind, Gabby, Sara Sue, Maddie Cakes, and Bonnie Bleu. Harvey is survived by his wife, Judy, of the home, his daughter’s Tammy and Michelle and her husband Zak, his son, Jason, his grandchildren Cristi Wojtecki of Big Bend Wisconsin, Melisa McGuire and her husband Corey, of Jenks, OK, Chandler Matthews and his wife Cristina of Oklahoma City, OK, Logan Bean and her husband Stephen of Newalla, OK, and Zoey Phillips of Newalla, OK, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and friends. Funeral services for Harvey will be held at Soldier Creek Baptist Church in Midwest City, OK, on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Harvey’s name to the Firelink Midwest City Foundation. “In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, no one else will ever fill.” Unknown
