Lorna Louise VanMeter went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2025. She was born on April 24, 1926, in Cardin, Oklahoma to parents Earl and Roxie (Mayer) Simpson.
She was a homemaker and wife to William Chester VanMeter for 61 years. Bill was from Pueblo, Colorado. She and Bill eloped and were married in Raton, New Mexico, after only knowing each other for three months.
Lorna graduated from Kiefer High School. She and Bill lived many years in San Antonio, Texas, and they enjoyed many overseas trips. When they retired in 1992, they moved back to Sapulpa to be close to their families and old friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, baby sisters Jaunita and Charlina Simpson, Karen Kay Greenwood, Earlene Cloyde, and Wanda Pfeifer.
Lorna is survived by her son, Billy Earl VanMeter, and four grandsons: William Scott VanMeter and wife Carrie, Kenneth Sean VanMeter, Joshua Ryne VanMeter and wife Holly, and Justin Jake Brown, as well as twin great-grandchildren Morgan and Matthew VanMeter, their brother Cameran, great-granddaughters Micha and Hazel, and many nieces and nephews whom she loves dearly.
