Wilma Jo Callaway (Robins) was born on April 19, 1933, to James Morgan and Dollie Pugh Callaway in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She left this earthly world to be with her Heavenly Father on May 13, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Wilma grew up on a farm in rural Oklahoma during the depression where she learned to work hard, spend wisely, and love the Lord. She went to a one-room schoolhouse where she recalls learning the lessons of the older children, as well as the ones for her age level.
Finishing school in 8th grade, she married Phillip Cook at the age of 16 so she could get away from the farm and live life fully. He was in construction, so they traveled all over the U.S. from California, Ohio, Texas, Kansas and Arkansas, but mostly different areas of Oklahoma. They settled in Tulsa in 1960. Wilma was mostly a homemaker, but worked various jobs from picking cotton, counting jewelry at Penney’s, being a florist, and many other odd jobs to help support her family.
After her divorce in 1963, she met and fell in love with Scooter’s little league baseball coach, Bud Robins. They were married on June 19, 1964. She then went on to get her GED while being married and working part-time. Together, she and Bud purchased a 60-acre farm near Bristow and Sapulpa in 1973 and named it The Bar WB. She helped Bud on the farm with just about every chore there was to do. Tending the cattle, mending fences, cutting wood, and fixing the road. You name it, she was there to help. They were so happy when grandchildren came along, they named parts of the farm after them. One area was Kimberlee Park, the garden shed was called Summer House, there was Travis Trails and Mindee Meadow. They became Meemaw Wilma and Papa Bud. Wilma also had a vegetable garden that she loved to tend to, and many people were the recipients of those vegetables. She even took okra to her Dr. in Tulsa when she had appointments with him. She also loved to cook and bake, and many times family would receive something she baked or cooked as a gift for their birthday or Christmas.
Wilma and Bud loved attending church together. They attended a rural church near the farm, Freedom Hill Baptist Church for several years until they moved their membership to The First Baptist Church of Sapulpa for many years. Bud was a Sunday School Teacher for an adult class, while Wilma led the little preschool children. She did that at every church she attended until she was almost 80 years old.
After Bud’s passing in 2009, she tried staying on the farm by herself for many years, but it eventually became too much for her to handle. Unfortunately, she had to sell The Bar Wb and move to Tulsa in 2015. She got a three bedroom house so she still had room for the grandchildren and great grandchildren to stay the night. Living in Tulsa, she was close to her daughter who could help her with whatever she needed.
In 2021, Wilma moved to the University Retirement Village where she could remain her independent self, living in a cottage without assistance. She told her son-in-law Bob that if she moved again, he could shoot her. Bob sold his shot gun so as not to be tempted.
Wilma’s declining eyesight forced her to give up her car, which was a difficult choice because when she wanted to get up and go somewhere, she would. Giving up some of her independence, she relied on her children, grandchildren, great great grandchildren, a couple of great nieces, and someone she called her “second daughter” for transportation.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Gather “Bud” Lee Robins, and her seven sisters and five brothers. She was the baby of 13, the last remaining of the Callaway siblings. She also leaves behind a daughter Kathy “Casey” Gilmore and spouse Bob of Tulsa, OK, a son Dewayne “Scooter” Cook and spouse Kim of Jones, OK, granddaughters Kimberlee Fasig and spouse Russ of Tulsa, OK, Summer Musgrove and spouse Blake of Tulsa, OK, Mindee Kazarian and spouse Ben of San Antonio, Texas, grandson Travis Cook and mate Meg DeBord of Wichita, KS, great grandchildren Gavin Fasig and spouse Ashlin of Tulsa, OK, Nathan Sandridge and mate Ayla Neumann of Tulsa, OK, Kadence Sandridge of Tulsa, OK, Mason Fasig of Tulsa, OK, and Grayson Musgrove of Tulsa, OK, great great grandchildren Evelyn Fasig and Waylen Sandridge, many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
