In Loving Memory of Shirley Florence Gibbs

September 15, 1937 – May 13, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Shirley Florence Gibbs, who departed this life peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 87.

One of 11 children born to sharecroppers from Missouri, Shirley was born and raised in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, in the community she loved. She was a woman of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Gibbs and Laverne Jones, and carried their memory with grace and love. Shirley was a devoted mother to Joy King, Douglas Gibbs, and Michael Gibbs, and a proud grandmother to Tina King, Christy King, Corey Gibbs, Ira Gibbs, Tim Gibbs, and Jennifer Gibbs, as well as many beloved great & great-grandchildren.

Shirley had a gentle spirit and a creative soul. She poured her love into every crocheted blanket and handmade quilt, each stitching a gift from the heart. She found joy in scrapbooking cherished memories, collecting delicate dolls, and watching the birds that visited her window. A true lover of the Old West, Shirley never missed a good western, especially if John Wayne was in it.

Her home was a haven of warmth, filled with food, crafts, laughter, and love. She created a legacy that lives on in the hands she held, the wisdom she shared, and the lives she shaped.

We will miss her deeply—but we will carry her in every shared memory, every family gathering, every sunset she would have loved.
