Jerry Travis Sixkiller Obituary

Jerry Travis Sixkiller of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on June 15th, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on August 27, 1934, in Stilwell, Oklahoma to the late Cicero and Myrtle Sixkiller.

Jerry attended High School in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He later served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Sill as a E4 and served in the Korean War.

Years later Jerry met the love of his life Deloris Arthurs and were married on March 17th, 1969, where they raised their 4 daughters. We could not have had a better father and provider for our family.

Jerry then attended a 4-year college where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After that, Jerry and Deloris successfully owned and operated DJ's Snack Bar for 25 years in Tulsa before they happily retired.

Jerry loved fishing and camping. On Fridays they would pick us girls up from school and then meet up with our Grandma Allie, Uncle Larry, Aunt JoAnn and their kids Candie, Terrie, Larry Dale and Jimmy. Then we would all head down to Grand Lake for a weekend of fun in the sun!! He also loved his Dog Ginger and cats Minnie and Tom; they gave him so much pleasure. Jerry and Mom also enjoyed spending time with his brother Roke and Poodle. They liked going out to dinners and trying different eating establishments.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Cicero and Myrtle Sixkiller, his wife Deloris, Brothers Frank (Roke) and John Sixkiller, and Caroline, and sister Irmaleen.

Jerry is survived by his daughters Billie Sue and Donnie Lowery, Linda Lee and Frank Hammontree, Glenda Gail and Terry Wallace and Vicki Kay and the late Butch Crawford all living in Oklahoma, grandchildren Cindy Kay, Miranda, Ashley, Jesse Aaron and Travis Dillon, great grandchildren Brody, Baylee, Bexley, Addie, Lexie Rose and Lilly Rose, Sarah and Bryson Dumas, Bryson Jr and Levi Dumas, Gary and Leah and children Dennis and Dana and children Jenneffer and Tuck of North Carolina and children Gary Daniel Sixkiller, Esther and Ernie Maes and children, and Luke Sixlkiller and child Helen Irmaleen Smith.

All of us are hurting from your passing but we are also so happy that you are now with Mom, your Mom and Dad Cicero and Myrtle, and brothers Frank, John and sister Irmaleen Sixkiller.

Story - When we got to the lake Jerry would always pick a spot to pitch the tent as far away from everybody as possible cause he was very protective of all hi girls and of course as teenage girls all we wanted to be around the teenage boys...and they would always find us!  lol

Story - I remember us girls would have dates on the weekends and Jerry would not go to sleep until all us girls made it home and if anyone of us girls were late when we got home he would flash the porch lights on and off for us to get inside. He would then have a talk with us about being late and by the time he finished with his speech us girls would feel so bad we would have rather had the grounding than to disappoint him!! lol
