Donald Gene Davis, 78, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed away on June 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 23rd, 1946, to parents Donald Burton Davis and Emma Maxine Davis. He was a devoted husband, proud father, beloved grandfather, and a patriotic American. He was married to the love of his life, Rebekah Davis, with whom he built a beautiful life and family for the last 56 years.
Early in life, his cousins remember his kind heart, coupled with his extreme silliness and ability to make everyone laugh. Adventurous, and hardworking, he left home early in his teen years and became a migrant worker on farmlands in various states around the country. He even worked a short time on the trail crew, riding pack mules to the base of the Grand Canyon. At 17, he convinced his father to sign him in early to the United States Army where he became a paratrooper. His work ethic and attention to detail earned him a role as a parachute rigger, where he would pack parachutes for the new trainees at Fort Benning, GA.
After serving in the military, Don returned to Tulsa, OK. He started attending the Pentecostal church in Sand Springs, OK where he met and married the pastor’s daughter, Rebekah (Still) Davis. They married on September 6th, 1968.
Donald worked at Rainbo for 33 years, until transferring to Wonder bread after it closed. His continued work ethic and way with people had him promoted to foreman, where he was well beloved by coworkers. It was often that everyone wanted to work on Don’s shift.
Don’s greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, and reading the Bible — especially the war stories, which spoke to his soul as a man who deeply loved all things military. A true patriot, he carried a lifelong passion for his country and its history.
Don is survived by his children Donald Gene Davis Jr., Darren Davis, Brandon Still, Jennifer Dickson, and Jeremy Still. He was a cherished grandfather to Ashton Davis, Jacob Dickson, Aliyah Davis, Isaiah Still, Elisha Still, Miriam Still, Naomi Still, and Graysen Davis — each of whom he adored deeply.
