In Loving Memory of Jerry Gene Parvin
January 8, 1939 – August 13, 2025
Jerry Gene Parvin was born on Sunday, January 8, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Ella and John David (J.D.) Parvin. On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the age of 86, Jerry peacefully departed this life, surrounded by loved ones.
Raised by a devoted single mother, Jerry was the eldest of her children and spent his formative years in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Central High School in 1956 and married his first wife, Connie, in 1960. Together, they raised three children—Karry, Toby, and Jeri Ann—whom Jerry guided with unwavering love, wisdom, and a deep commitment to family values.
In 1983, Jerry gave his life to the Lord, a turning point that profoundly shaped the rest of his journey. His faith became a cornerstone of his character, evident to all who knew him. In 1997, he married Linda Thomas, the love of his life. Their home became a cherished haven for their blended family, where grandchildren gathered and made lasting memories with their beloved Papa and Mamaw.
A masterful electrician and craftsman, Jerry approached every project with precision, creativity, and grit. At just 19, he opened his own filling station, Jerry’s DX, and later became a licensed stationary and electrical engineer. His talents and tireless work ethic led to a wide range of business ventures and career opportunities. Even in his later years, Jerry was sought after for his expertise, traveling across the country with Linda by his side to consult on complex electrical projects.
Jerry had a lifelong love for the open road—whether commuting, road-tripping, or racing around the track, he found joy behind the wheel. When the time came to hang up his car keys, he turned his attention to modifying his electric bike, determined to keep moving forward, quite literally.
His faith remained central throughout his life. Jerry and Linda made it a priority to connect with local churches wherever their travels took them. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville, where he served faithfully as Director of the Senior Adult Ministry, offering encouragement and fellowship to others.
Jerry is survived by his children: Toby Parvin and wife Diana of Kiefer, and Jeri Ann O’Dell of Oologah; daughter-in-law, Roianne Kostner; his sister, Jonnie Darlene Hammon and husband Bill; grandchildren: Cliff Parvin, Courtney Parks, Blake Parvin, Kyler Parvin, Boyd Parvin, Kelley Kirkpatrick, and Kristen O’Dell; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a large extended family who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella and J.D. Parvin; his wife, Linda Parvin; his son, Karry Parvin; son-in-law, John O’Dell; and stepdaughters, Cathy Habecker and Tresa Hulsman.
Jerry’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community of First Baptist Church of Collinsville. His life was a testament to faith, resilience, and love.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Collinsville, located at 1301 W. Main Street, Collinsville, OK 74021.
