Jimmie Rushing was born on September 12, 1945, in Oswalt, Oklahoma, to parents James Alonzo Nelson and Hettie Green Nelson. She passed away on August 26, 2025.

She married Jesse Leonard Leach Jr. on September 28, 1963. This marriage produced two sons, Jesse Leonard Leach III and Jimmy Dwayne Leach.

Jimmie later married Franklin Delano Rushing on October 17, 1981, and remained with him until his passing on September 19, 2000.

She was preceded in death by her father James Alonzo Nelson (1989), her mother Hettie Green Nelson (1996), and her brother Joseph Nelson (2006).

Jimmie leaves behind two sisters, Delores Nelson of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Louise Lynn of Fillmore, California, two sons Jesse Leonard Leach III of Springfield, Missouri, and Jimmy Dwayne Leach of Bixby, Oklahoma, one grandson Jesse Lakoda Leach of Springfield, Missouri, and a host of nieces and nephews.
