Louis Roy Speck entered his heavenly home on January 10, 2026. Child of God, faithful husband, blessed father, incredible Pawpa, brother, uncle, friend, and pastor. Louis Roy Speck was born on March 20, 1936 in Oswego Kansas. He lived a life defined by faithful service to God, his country, and his family.
Louis proudly served his nation through multiple periods of military service. He first entered the United States Air Force on June 15, 1955, serving honorably until February 6, 1959. He later returned to service, entering the Air Force again on October 30, 1961, and honorably separating on August 20, 1962. Continuing his commitment to military service, Louis enlisted in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, where he served with distinction as part of the Air National Guard of Oklahoma and the United States Air Force Reserve. He was honorably discharged from the Air National Guard on December 15, 1965, and later completed his reserve obligations with an honorable discharge on January 1, 1968. His service reflected dedication, professionalism, and steadfast patriotism during a significant era in American history.
On September 1, 1956, Louis married the love of his life, Martha Elizabeth Speck (Burris). Their marriage was a lifelong partnership rooted in faith, devotion, and steadfast love. They were married for more than 64 years, separated only by her death in 2021.
Answering a higher calling, Louis was ordained into the Gospel ministry on January 28, 1971, by Central Baptist Church in Owasso, Oklahoma. From that moment forward, he dedicated his life to preaching, teaching, and shepherding others with humility, compassion, and unwavering faith. His ministry touched countless lives through pastoral leadership, encouragement, and service to the church and community. After decades of faithful service, Louis retired from the ministry on March 20, 2021, marking a lifetime devoted to sharing the Gospel and serving God with integrity and grace.
Louis, known by those who knew him as Lou, Louie, or Brother Louie enjoyed a lifelong love of the game of baseball. He was also an avid reader, known to be reading more than one book at a time at any given time. His favorite book to read was the Bible and he never ever stopped being a student of God’s word. Louis will be remembered as a man of deep faith, honorable service, and quiet strength—one who loved his family, served his country, and faithfully followed his calling.
Louis is survived by a brother-in-law, Robert Strohfield of Harlingen TX, 3 children, daughter Kelly Lawson of Mounds OK, son David Speck and daughter-in-law Julie of Norman OK, and daughter Carolyn James and son-in-law David of Tulsa OK; grandchildren, Randal J and Chandalynn Speck, Nicholas Hoffman, Micah Browne, Jared and Tina Baker, Jadie Sargent, Natalie and Dustin Timmons, John and Soraya James, Audrey and Caleb Davidson, Roman and McKenzie James, Christian and Hannah James, Maggie and Devin Barnhart, and Paul James; 24 great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Speck, son, Rodney Speck, parents, Roy and Blanche Speck, brother, Curt Speck, brother-in-law and sister-in law, Charles and Carolyn Burris, sister-in-law, Mildred Strohfield.
Funeral Services are at 10 am Tueday, January 13th at First Baptist Church, Mounds, OK. His Final Resting Place is in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in the care of Green Hill Funeral Home.
