Donal Michael Riggs Obituary

Donal Michael “Mike” Riggs, 82, of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on February 2, 2026, of natural causes.

Mike was born on June 24, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Hillcrest Hospital), to Donal Wallace Riggs and Freda Louise Riggs (Brown). He was raised in Tulsa, where he attended Central High School.

A proud American and true patriot, Mike served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era, including service in Korea, from 1960 to 1964. He was trained as an aircraft mechanic and later earned his A&P license from Tulsa Spartan School of Aeronautics. He went on to work in aviation for North American Aeronautics in Tulsa and American Airlines in Tulsa, and was also a proud member of Asbestos Workers Local 64.

On August 4, 1969, Mike married the love of his life, Vicki Dianne Hopkins Riggs, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They shared 56 years of marriage and built a life full of love, family, and devotion.

Mike was baptized at Christ the King in Tulsa and was a longtime member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Owasso. He was known as a man of many talents—a true craftsman who could fix just about anything. He enjoyed woodworking, watching NASCAR, tracking "Big Foot" and OU football, and relaxing with his favorite TV shows, including The Curse of Oak Island and Ancient History programs. He especially loved driving his Jeep, traveling to the casino, and spending time with his dogs and family.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved sister, Nancy Maston; and his brother, Jerry Riggs.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Vicki Riggs of Owasso; his children, Donny Riggs, Michelle Riggs, David Riggs and wife Melissa Riggs; his grandchildren, Maude Payne (husband Stewart Payne), Cary Newberry (wife Mana Newberry), Gretel Riggs, Autumn Goehler (husband Simon Goehler), and Audrey Riggs; and his great-grandchildren, Cooper Payne, Maddox Payne, and Beckham Payne, with another great-grandchild expected in September. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, George Allen Hopkins and wife Robin Hopkins, along with numerous loving cousins, extended family members, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Mike will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, craftsmanship, love of country, and the deep love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew him.
