Marjorie Ann Herron Obituary

Marjorie Ann Laughlin Herron, a devoted community member and cherished family matriarch, passed away Saturday April 18, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, just 10 days before her 80th birthday. She was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on April 28, 1946 to Jesse Vernon Laughlin and Mary “Pauline” Dungan Laughlin. She was the first in her family of five to be born in a hospital. Having rolled off the bed as an infant, she was the first to get a baby bed as well.

She graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 1964 and loved math and bookkeeping classes, where she was always known to complete her coursework ahead of schedule.

Marjorie built a rich life defined by dedication to her family, work, and faith. She was married to Tommie Allen Herron on Thanksgiving, November 26, 1964 until his passing November 15, 2007. She lived in Sapulpa from 1972-2018, moving to Tulsa for health reasons.

For many years, she was a respected employee at Skelly Petroleum where she contributed her skills and expertise. She left to be a stay-at-home mother. She later rejoined the workforce in 1979 and transitioned to property management bookkeeping, serving the community at 2300 Riverside Condos. Marjorie found a rewarding career in the medical field in 1983. She taught herself medical terminology and worked as a bookkeeper and computer administrator for Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center (EOOC). She was employed there until 1998 when her car was rear-ended and she suffered a massive stroke at 52 years old.

Late in her career, she took classes in C++ programming at Tulsa Junior College. She was an “A” student working toward an associates degree. After EOOC had many disruptive computer conversions, she successfully wrote the code to transition data to a new system on her own. The company recognized her for the flawless execution and cost savings of her work.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Marjorie was baptized at First Baptist Church in Tulsa on July 9, 1967. When she moved to Sapulpa, she became a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Sapulpa. There she found great comfort and fellowship with her Sunday School class. She also found joy and purpose by serving in the church’s Food Pantry.

She was artistic and enjoyed sewing, crafting, oil and ceramic painting, and many other kinds of arts and crafts. She loved gospel and classical music, nature, learning, reading, and gardening. She enjoyed being amazed by her grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father and her four siblings, sister Rebecca Lynch, and brothers Everett, Virgil, and Dale Laughlin, all of Rogers, Arkansas. She will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, daughter Alana Herron, son-in-law Craig Sullivan, grandsons Jeremy and Liam Sullivan, all of Sapulpa, niece Reba Goff and her daughter Becka Goff of Rogers, AR, and all of the many friends who knew her. Visitation will be held at Green Hill Funeral Home in Sapulpa from 9-1 on Tuesday April 28, followed by interment. Her celebration of life will be held at Covenant Living at Inverness Village, Founders Hall at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marjorie's memory to Sapulpa First Baptist Church, memo line for the Food Pantry Ministry.
