Glenn Dale Buckner Obituary
Glenn was born on March 22, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to parents Alva & Bonnie Sue Buckner (Hill). He grew up in the town of Sapulpa, where he and his brothers, Paul & Johnnie, lived on Water Street and attended Sapulpa Public Schools.
While on the school bus in 1963, Glenn met Brenda Lee Reynolds, who had just moved to
Sapulpa. On May 14, 1965, they were married, just one day after Brenda graduated from high school. This began a long and happy 61 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart. In
February 1966, they welcomed their first child and only son, David Glenn. In April 1969, their family grew again with the birth of their first daughter, Bethany Ann. In January 1974, their
third child Lori Lynn was born, completing their family.
Glenn began his career in law enforcement by applying to join the Sapulpa Police Department. He earned the then highest score ever on the entrance exam. After graduating from Police
Academy in 1969, Glenn worked for the Sapulpa Police Department for eight years. He
transferred to the Creek County Sheriff’s Office for two years before joining the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, where he remained until his retirement after 23 years of service. Public service was an important component of Glenn’s character. In addition to his time in law enforcement, he also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Berryhill Fire Department, serving on their board for many years. He was also an active member of the Red Fork Masonic Lodge, reaching the
office of Grand Master during his years of involvement.
In their free time, he & wife Brenda enjoyed fishing, vacationing in Branson, and trips to Eureka Springs, where they would seek out treasured antiques and books for their collections.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Alva & Bonnie Sue Buckner, and his son David Glenn Buckner. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; brothers Paul Buckner and Johnnie Buckner; daughter Bethany VanNortwick and husband Rob; daughter Lori Milam and husband James;
