Helen Laverne Bailey Obituary
Helen Laverne Bailey was born on November 16, 1941 in Stigler, Oklahoma. She was the oldest child of Leamon and Juanita McCaslin. She passed away on May 24, 2026 with her daughter by her side.
Laverne grew up in Stigler, Oklahoma but moved to Arizona, where she met the love of her life, Jerry Lee Bailey. They were married in May of 1963 and built a loving life together while raising their two daughters. Laverne was a devoted wife and mother, but her greatest joy came from being a grandmother and especially a great-grandmother. Known lovingly as Nana, she treasured every moment spent with her great-grandchildren and loved watching them grow. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or simple time together, they brought endless happiness and joy to her life.
Laverne dedicated many years of her life to serving others through her work. Before retiring, she worked as a passport clerk at the Tulsa County Courthouse, where she enjoyed helping people and was known for her kindness and warm personality. Prior to her time at the courthouse, Laverne worked for Dr. Brownlee as an Optician, where her caring nature and attention to detail made her especially well suited for helping patients feel comfortable and cared for. She also spent several years working for a jeweler, a job she truly enjoyed because of her appreciation for beauty, conversation, and meeting people from all walks of life. No matter where she worked, Laverne formed lasting friendships and left a positive impression on those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leamon and Juanita McCaslin; her brothers, Roy McCaslin, Ray McCaslin, and Ron McCaslin; her sister, Charlene Lambert; and her beloved husband, Jerry Bailey. Laverne is survived by her daughters, Maranda Carson and husband Tim Carson, Bailey Watkins and husband Ron Watkins, granddaughters, Rebecca Herring and husband Philip Herring, Jessica Watkins and husband Derrick Pickering, great-granddaughters Averi Watkins, Maddyn Pickering, and Aubrey Herring, great-grandsons Leo Pickering and Cooper Herring; her brother John McCaslin and wife Ruby McCaslin, sister in law Edna McCaslin, along with countless nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Laverne will be remembered for her love of family, her caring heart, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Revelation 21:4: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
