John Leroy George, 78, of Mannford, OK passed away May 29, 2026, in Tulsa, OK.

John was born on February 29, 1948 in Claremore, OK to Rufus and Addie George.

John served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 to 1979. After his service, he earned his Associates degree in Computer Science in San Diego. He spent about 10 years in California before returning to Oklahoma, residing in Sapulpa, Kellyville, and Mannford.

John was a man of many talents. He played baseball growing up. He loved to beadwork, garden, tell many of his life stories, and spending time with family.

He was a part of the Native American Church, participated in powwows, sweats, and stomp dances.

He was known for his vast knowledge, scientific curiosity, and his dad jokes.

Above all, John loved his family and friends. He is survived by his companion Irene LaysBad; his children and their families: Melissa and Travis of Sapulpa with their children, Ambrose of Tulsa with his children, Charles of Sapulpa with his child, Paula of Sapulpa with her children, Jennifer and John of Lawrence, KS and their children, and Donovan of Mannford. His siblings: Melvin and his wife, and Valerie Harjo. He was proceeded in death by his parents, several siblings, and his grandson Nickolas.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 4th, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Green Hill Funeral Home.

Following will be a service at John’s home in Mannford.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5th, at 2 p.m. at Green Hill Funeral Home.
