Opa.... well Opa ranks in the top 4 greatest human beings I have ever, or will ever have had the chance to grow with... learn from... and love.
He’s the best grandpa anyone could ever ask for. I only had 2, as most do. Both will forever be building blocks for the better part of a person I know myself to truely be.
Opa- BEST road dog I’ve ever embarked accross the country with. Haha at speeds so slow they were hardly definable as motion at all. He taught me patience. As any great man of the medical world or hell.. any for that matter must have to make it outward and onward with the clarity of mind I know himself to have had upon his epic departure.
His love of big bands birthed in me my undying love for Benny Goodman, and his skills on the slopes, matched with a steadfast belief in scared little boy. Well let’s just say I wouldn’t have ever known the joy in a double black if it weren’t for him. Lol
I could rant for any who cared to read droves, upon droves, of memories. Both one on one with my opa. As well as just as many stories that co star his equally amazing super star of wife I am so fortunate to have been able to call my Oma.... but I feel any and all that are even glacing at any one of the awesome tid bits of times shared in the life of the great Dr. Zumwalt.... well they don’t need a listing of my experiences with a man I will forever miss. To know the absolute amazement he brought to so many lives. Or to know that his departure from this current place on earth will halt in anyway the gifts he has graced so many of us lucky ones with in times to come....
Opa... and Oma... I am so sorry I was more distant I the latter time of your lives than I ever could have wanted to be. I will never forgive myself for being so close yet so far... you will forever. Every day and every night. Every road trip, every glance at a snow covered peak, every bike ride, every historical discussion, every sight I have of a white robe and stethoscope, and every grand pa and grand ma. You will forever be on the happiest thoughts I have yet to have in my many years to come.
I love you Opa. Give oma a big ol’ hug and kiss for me.

Brad and I offer our condolences to you and Patty. Your father was a loving man in so many ways. He also loved life and skiing which kept him young until the end. We offer our love to you at this time and know your father will live on in the hearts and minds of all he touched.

What a sweet, loving, caring family man. Dr. Zumwalt was my family doctor from birth. He was always so kind and caring for our family. I remember seeing him at the grocery store with his lovely wife in her later years. He was so patient and caring for her. You could see the devoted love they had for each other. He truly lived a full life and gave back so much to the community. He will be missed.

Kurt, I am very sorry for the loss of your amazing father. I am so honored to have met Jerry and to have had such a fun day skiing with you both. To see Jerry ski those blues at 87 was incredible!

Dr. Jerry Zumwalt, so genuine, so wise, the epitome of a full productive joyful life both living it and giving it. Refusing to let old age define him, a true inspiration!

What a special place your Dad and Mom hold in our hearts. They influence my life everyday in positive ways because of the lovely memories we shared. God blesses our lives with many good acquaintances but rarely with a friend who
can be treasured for a lifetime, whose memory does not fade away with the
passing of years. Having your wonderful Dad and Mom in our home again last
May still brings a glow to my heart and tears to my eyes. Watching his loving care for your Mom, the four of us being together again for what we sensed
might be the last time on this earth is counted as a privilege I'll treasure so
long as God gives me memory. You are being remembered in our
prayers and we celebrate with you the lives of your very special Dad and Mom.
The love your family shows for one another is a joy to celebrate as well.
From my heart, Linda

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Your parents were both such special people, and I miss your dad already. I loved being his interpreter for so many years and have so many great and funny memories. It’ll be sad to make Cuban flan and know he won’t be there for his own personal one he wouldn’t share. I will treasure the memories.
Love to you all,
Gina Wozencraft
