Obituary of Helen Irene Blackburn

Helen Lance Brumley Blackburn passed away Monday, February 5, 2024. She was born on January 6, 1935, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Thomas Hayden Lance and Bertha Katherine Downs Lance.

She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1953, where she was the president of The Future Teachers of America, and served on the yearbook staff. After High School, she attended OSU.

Helen did many things and served many people in her life. She was president of the Sapulpa Chapter of American Business Women’s Association, the Women’s Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadore, the Creek County Child Guidance Advisory Board, she was a Treasurer for the town of Kellyville where she organized the Kellyville American Business Women’s Association, a Charter Member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 719 in Kellyville, a member of the Sapulpa Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the Standard Motor Supply Inc., a Charter Member of the Morning Star Temple of the Pythians, a Sunday School Teacher at the Assembly of God Church in Sapulpa, a greeter at the Newspring Assembly of God Church, a Secretary of the Sapulpa Historical Society and Museum, a volunteer at the Sapulpa Historical Museum, and a member of the New Spring Family Church in Jenks, Oklahoma.

Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, loved seeing and playing with her great grandchildren, going out for family dinners, reading the bible, going to Tuesday Bible Study, doing things with her Sunday School class, traveling and visiting with her sister and friends.

Helen was known for, and will always be remembered by her Faith and Loving Spirit.
