Obituary of Floyd Layne Carter

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Floyd Layne Carter, a loving husband, father and grandfather went to be with the Lord at the age of 70. Floyd was born on February 20, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Floyd and Lucille Carter.

 

Floyd’s first job was delivering papers in the early mornings at the age of 13. He graduated from Central High School in 1973 and then went to Okmulgee Tech and graduated in 1975, receiving a degree in Plumbing. In 1975, he began working with the city of Tulsa and retired after 30 years of service. He had his own Plumbing Company.

 

Floyd’s most enjoyable and rewarding times were with his children and grandchildren, any activities they were involved in, and hosting many family get-togethers.

 

His favorite hobbies were trains, playing golf, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and listening to music but mostly The Beatles (He could’ve been a historian on them.) He also liked The Sound of Orchestra.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Lucille Carter and other family including Shannon Carter, Ronnie Hill, Brad Reinert, Brent Cockrum and Camilla Blackowl.

 

Floyd is survived by his wife Laura Carter of Sapulpa, children Melinda Jones and husband of Sapulpa, Travis Carter and wife Sasha of Sapulpa and Clinton Carter and wife Amber of Sapulpa, grandchildren Sarah Jones, Lydia Jones, Alexis Carter, Kruz Carter, Cayden Carter and Emersyn Rankin, brothers Kent Carter and wife Mary of Bixby, Tony Carter and wife Pat of Gladstone, MO, sisters Debbie Carter of Tulsa and Lana Carter-Hancock of Sand Springs, nieces Anita, Tracy T, Wiletta, Shirley, Shelly, Tracie R, Kimberly, Brittney, Kayanna, nephews Jimmy, Clifford, Danny, Wayne, Shawn and Adam, aunt Winona and numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins.
