Obituary of Beth Irene Smith

Please share a memory of Beth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Beth Irene Smith was born May 24, 1945 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma to Carl and Eithel Boman. Beth went to her new home, to be with the Lord and her husband of 57 years, on March 19, 2024.

Beth was one of 10 children. She lived across the street from the Smith family and her brother Clyde was friends with a cute boy. She asked this cute boy to go to a Sadie Hawkins dance with her and the rest is history. She married Charles Smith on December 23, 1962. The couple lived in San Jose, California until her husband finished his military service.  They moved back to Oklahoma, living in Bartlesville and Tulsa before finally settling in the Sapulpa/Kiefer area where they continued to raise their family.

Beth was a loving mother and wife. She loved the Lord and served with her husband in church bus ministries in Bartlesville, Sapulpa and Tulsa. She also cherished her time teaching Sunday School and working in Children’s Church. She loved children and wanted to share her love for the Lord with them.

Beth was a fantastic cook. When attending church or family dinners her family and those who knew her always made sure to partake in whatever she brought. She was a loving wife and mother, often sacrificing her own needs for her family. She was truly selfless when it came to those she loved. She had a soft heart and her family would tease her when she would tear up during sad movies, but they would not have had her be any other way.

Beth was preceded in death by her father and step-mother Carl and Esther Boman, her mother Eithel Edens, siblings Richard, Jeanne, Clyde, Carlene, David and Clifford. She was also preceded in death by grandson Douglas Smith. She is survived by her children Charles “Doug” Smith, Brenda Smith, Matthew and wife Michelle Smith, and Kathy and husband Kenny Drywater. Grandchildren include Patti, Clint, Laurie, Jordan, Aidan, Cydney, Devin, Delilah, and Kenny. She is also survived by siblings Steve, Teresa, and Debbie, along with sister-in-law Vera, her best friend Karen Crabaugh, as well as a multitude of extended family and friends.

Beth was the heart of her family. She leaves behind beautiful memories that her family will always cherish.
