Please share a memory of BEN to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ben Marier Battle, also known as "Big Ben", "Crackin/Big Daddy", Be was born to Mazella Brown and Buford Battle on June 9, 1953, in Bristow, Oklahoma. At a young age, Ben and family moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and were introduced to and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. He attended King Solomon Baptist Church. Ben attended Booker T. Washington and Sapulpa High School. After high school, he was inducted into the National Guard, a branch of the U.S. Military Armed Services. After completing his term of service honorable and returning home, he was employed by Standard Chevrolet. Ben was the "Hilltop Anchor". He had a remarkable amusing way of making people laugh. There was never a dull moment, "in his presence". Ben had many talents in captivating his crowd in his alluring storytelling. "If I say a duck can pull a truck, then you betta hook him up!" A true country boy, he enjoyed the outdoors from hunting, fishing, to working on cars. He loved his family and home. He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, and two stepsisters. On June 29, 2011, the Lord saw fit to summon Ben to another home. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother Mazella Brown of Sapulpa; one daughter Ashley Mae Rose English of Des Moines, Iowa, six brothers; Larry Battle and Buford Battle Jr. of Tulsa, Billy Battle (Marcella) and Cosea Battle Sr. of Sapulpa, Charles Battle of Okmulgee, and Harvey Battle of Arizona; his three sisters; Emma Lee Battle of Sapulpa, Sarah Battle of Strang, Oklahoma, and Lorene Shaw(Michael) of Tulsa. There are also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts, along with a host of other relatives and friends. He will supremely be missed but may his family find joy and comfort in knowing that he is resting with the Lord "Alone in his presence".
