Obituary of Sibyl Elnora Yocum

Sibyl Elnora Yocum was born December 27, 1918 to Albert and Ella Mae (Barnard) Cree in Bristow. She departed this life January 3, 2015 at the age of 96 years and 7 days. Sibyl attended Olive School through the 10th grade and was united in marriage to Leonard Webster July 8, 1936. From this union 2 children were born; Larry Webster and Shirley Wahl. She also loved and thought of Barbara Webster as a daughter. She was united in a second marriage to Amos Yocum July 5, 1965. Sibyl lived in the Creek County area most of her life. After living on Deep Fork River Bottom, south of Milfay, for a number of years she moved to rural area Depew in 1978. Sibyl was a very hard worker all her life; cooking, and waitressing in her restaurants and working in the cotton fields. She enjoyed cooking and visiting with family and friends. It was well known that when you went to her house you always had a cup of coffee and something good to eat. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting, crocheting and canning. She also enjoyed teaching these to all she knew, including grandchildren. “Grandma is the softest, gentlest, kindest, most loving and most precious Grandma we know.” She was definitely one of a kind! Sibyl is survived by her son Larry Webster of Mounds; daughter Shirley Wahl of Depew; sister Dora Latham of Sapulpa; grandchildren Larry Carson and wife DeLes of Slick; Cissie Elnora Hill and husband Soloman of Iron Post; Emmy Archibald and husband Martin of Depew; great-grandchildren Nathon Gaskins and wife Sarah of Slick; Brandy Hallman and husband Ben of Bristow; Jeremy Gaskins and wife Kristy of Slick; Tiffany Vick of Depew; Tasha Towler of Depew; and 10 great-great-grandkids. Sibyl is preceded in death by her parents and 4 sisters, Oma Head; Gladys Wilson; Lula James; and Evelyn Smith; daughter Barbara Webster; and grandson Sammy Gaskins.
