Obituary of Meredith Anne Olvey

Meredith Anne Olvey was born April 21, 1951, to Lawrence T. and Thomasine L. Gillert in Ponca City, OK. She was the oldest sibling of Marilyn K. Gillert and John T. Gillert. Meredith attended Tulsa Public schools and graduated from East Central High School in 1969. She continued her education at Northeastern State University where she met her future husband, Curt Olvey. Curt and Meredith were married on March 8, 1972. Meredith finished her degree in Elementary Education the following year in 1973. Family has always been first and foremost in Meredith's life; never more important than with the birth of her two children, John and Emily. Meredith had three passions outside of her family: education, antiques, and her dogs. Meredith began her teaching career in 1974 while living in Florida. Upon moving back to Oklahoma she continued her career with Tulsa Public Schools 11 years ago. Meredith retired in 2014 to spend more time antiquing and caring for her dogs. Meredith is survived by her loving husband, children, siblings, and fur children, Bailey and Maggie. Meredith is cherished by her extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as her work family.
