Obituary of George Roy Fromm

George Roy Fromm passed away February 5, 2015 at the age of 92 in Hillcrest Medical Center. Roy was born on November 7, 1922 to George Franklin and Grace Dexter (Parks) Fromm in rural Craig county between Welch, Oklahoma and Chetopa, Kansas. He married Grace Lorene Marshall at Miami, Oklahoma on November 17, 1943. He is survived by his wife Grace of 71 years, one daughter Sharon Sue, and her husband Jerry Wyrick of Claremore, one granddaughter Michelle and her husband Steve Jordan, twin great-grandsons Hunter Scott and Parker Steven and great-granddaughter Shelby Nicole Jordan all of Claremore, Oklahoma. Sister Virginia McCord and several special nephews and many friends survive him. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Vera and Nellie McCord. Roy loved his dogs, his cane with the LED light, hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, trap shooting, turkey shoots and he was so proud of his tractor with the air-conditioned cab. He always looked forward to Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown. Cal Smith’s Country Pumpkin was his favorite song. He loved to set around and play his harmonica. He enjoyed woodworking and giving his creations to others. Roy liked to tinker on things and figure out how to make them work. Duct tape and JB Weld were always on hand. He loved to raise a garden and share with others. Making rhymes and jokes was also one of his favorite things. He always got us on April Fools’ Day! He was kind and loved by many. Always wanting to help where he was needed. His granddaughter said he was truly one of a kind! His family always came first. She has so many memories it is hard to pick just one. He often took her fishing and just exploring around the farm. He was such an example of what a husband should be. Grandpa loved grandma so much just as she loved him. Grandpa and grandma were always holding hands and taking care of each other. What a great example of a marriage they had! Grandpa loved his great-grandsons! We are so thankful they got to know their grandpa Roy. He loved to play the harmonica for the boys. Hunter said that was his favorite memory of his grandpa. When Parker was asked he first said I have so many great memories! He then said he loved hugging him every time before they left. We will miss you so much grandpa! He was a WWII Veteran and was a member of the active reserves for 11 years. He loved talking about his Army buddies and the places he traveled. He was a retired farmer and rancher and he also worked for Fred’s Welding Shop, Chetopa Campers, and was a substitute rural mail carrier for eleven years. He served on the school board for seven years. Graveside services will be held at the Ottawa Indian Cemetery east of Miami, Ok.
