Obituary of JAMES BROUGHTON

James C. "J.C." Broughton was born in Gore, OK on April 24, 1934 to Oce and Stella Broughton. He went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2012. J.C. was married to Emma Gene Mills in 1954, together they raised three children. J.C. was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Ellis , Eugene and Leon. He is survived by his wife, Emma Gene; sons, Carl and wife, Donna, Larry and wife, Barbara; daughter, Shelley Rose and husband Greg; sisters, Betty jane Buchanan and husband Derrell, Frances Watson, and brother Murrell Broughton; grandchildren are Lori and Eric Lee, Larry Broughton, Jr., Carla Cain, Justin and April Broughton, Sheridan Rose and Samuel Rose; great grandchildren are Colton, Dalton, Dillon, Brady and Alivia. J.C. was a well known musician. He taught himself to play the fiddle at a young age and preformed with many great artist such as Marvin McCoullough, Billy Parker, Jana Jay, Porter Wagner, Willie Nelson and many others. He was Fiddler for Round Up Boys, South Forty Band, Les Gilliam and the Silver Lake Band. J.C. is also a national championship fiddle player. He won numerous fiddle contest including Oklahoma State Champion Fiddler as well as National Oldtime Fiddler's Contest in Weiser, Idaho. He also played the Saxophone and made fiddles by hand. J.C. worked for many years at Waner Corp. in Sand Springs and then started his own Backhoe business in 1981. J.C. loved his family, his friends and his music. He was a great person and was well liked by everyone. He will be missed by all. Pall bearers are Larry Broughton Jr., Justin Broughton, Samuel Rose, Sheridan Rose, Eric Lee, and Carla Cain. Honorary bearers will be his six great grandchildren. Service will be 10:00 am Friday, June 29, 2012 at Garden Heights Freewill Baptist Church in Prattville. Burial will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery in Sand Springs. The family has chosen to entrust the care of the service to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312 www.greenhillok.com.
