Obituary of Jerry Modie O'Shields

Jerry O’Shields, 69, of Kellyville, departed this life at home surrounded by his wife and children on Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Jerry celebrated his birthday this day by transitioning into Paradise. Jerry was born in 1946 in San Antonio, Texas to parents Herbert and Eula O’Shields. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict from 1965-1968. He was very proud of being a Marine and of his service to our country. Semper Fi Jerry! After an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he went to work for the TSU Railway where he remained until his retirement. Jerry loved to cook and spent many years preparing meals for the youth at Frog Road Christian Camp every summer. He was well known for his “Omelet Day” where the children could have ‘made to order omelets.’ Jerry also enjoyed motorcycle riding and spent many miles on the road traveling the country with his wife. Jerry served as President of the Indian Nation Venture Motorcycle Club and attended many rallies until he was sidelined by an injury. He also loved road trips in the car; sightseeing and looked forward to planning each years’ vacation destination. His favorite place to go was to Indiana to see his grandchildren. Jerry was especially fond of his grandchildren and loved to spend time with them. Jerry never met a stranger, made friends easily and was on a first name basis with whomever he did business with. Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janice; his children Jeri Lynn Willis of Sapulpa; Terry Leon O’Shields of Kellyville; Kimberly Ann Roy and husband Erik of Batesville, Indiana; grandchildren Chelsea Willis; Cory Willis; Jessica O’Shields; Cole Masters; Megan Masters; Danielle Lewis; Eaya Lewis; Kalie Lewis; and great-grandchildren Isaac Jeter; and Arianna. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert O’Shields and Eula Shope; a twin brother, Terry, who died as an infant; brothers Glenn and Michael O’Shields. Jerry was a member of the Church of Christ and served in the Prison Ministry, was a Teacher and a Deacon. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Green Hill Funeral Home in Sapulpa. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Glenpool.
