Obituary of Odus Ray Champion

Odus Ray Champion November 13, 1937 – June 8, 2015 Odus Ray Champion, 77, of Mounds, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Mounds Cemetery in Mounds Oklahoma. Reverend Twila Gibbens will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 09, 2015 at Greenhill Funeral Home, Sapulpa. Odus was born in Clarksville, Arkansas on November 13, 1937, and on February 1st 1955 he married Frances Charlene Griffin, the love of his life. They were married for 60 years. Odus worked as a contractor for Southwestern Bell for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and most of all, spending time with his family. Odus will be remembered for always trying to make sure his kids had it better than he did and for trying to help anyone who was in need. There was never a job too big or too small for Odus to tackle; he built their first house at age 18 and is currently building their home in Gloryland… Odus was famous for his love of Frances, his “corny” jokes, and his stories about his kids. Odus is survived by his wife, Frances Champion of Mounds, OK, son Clifford Champion of Dover, Arkansas, daughter Barbara LaRue of Glenpool, OK, daughter Nancy Lavery of Mounds, OK, daughter Mary Champion of Sapulpa, OK, daughter Leta Carmona of Glenpool, OK, son Doug Champion of Mounds, OK, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family and friends. Odus is preceded in death by parents Oscar and Clara Champion, brothers James, Shorty, and Aud Champion, and grandson Brad Evans.. The family of Odus Champion wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
