Obituary of Mary Ann Keener

Mary Keener, 84, of Lawton, Oklahoma, went home to be with her Lord on June 13, 2015. She and her twin brother Bill were born on September 22, 1930 in Olive, Oklahoma to John and Winifred Harris. Mary graduated from Olive High School in 1948 and attended the Oklahoma School of Accounting. On February 14, 1960, she married Joe Keener. Joe and Mary ministered together in the churches of Christ for over 40 years, where she served as a teacher of children’s and ladies’ classes in addition to serving the church in countless other ways. She was also a talented artist. Mary is survived by her children, sons Tom Keener of Mart, Texas, Joey Keener of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Eddie Keener of Portland, Oregon, and daughter Mary Ann Williams of Lawton, Oklahoma. She is also survived by three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Joe Keener, as well as her parents and five siblings, and first husband George Akers. Mary will be buried at the Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Cushing, Oklahoma. Her graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 18, 2015. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in her honor to the Northwest Church of Christ Building Fund, 67th and Quanah Parker Trailway, Lawton, OK 73506.
