Obituary of Verlon Mae Stockton
Verlon Mae (Dethro) Stockton, the youngest of 4 children born to parents Jim and Ellen Dethro, entered this life in Poteau, OK on December 10, 1919 and passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on July 29, 2015, at the age of 95.
Verlon married Webster Stockton in Tucson, AZ in 1936. Shortly after their marriage they moved to California where they farmed and ranched. Their union was blessed with 4 children. Around 1960 they moved back to Oklahoma and the Sapulpa area has been her home for more than 40 years. When Verlon was younger she enjoyed bowling. She loved to read, and to play card games (UNO) with her friends. She was a member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church. Verlon liked to play practical jokes and those who were on the receiving end of her jokes did not forget them.
Verlon was preceded in death by her husband Webster Stockton; son W.L. Stockton; son Perry Stockton; parents Jim and Ellen Dethro; and siblings Elsie, Earl and Theodore. She is survived by daughter Nancy Stockton; son Leon Stockton and his wife Kay; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way.
Verlon was loved by her family. She will be remembered always and greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Green Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-9 pm Friday, July 31, 2015. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312/www.greenhillok.com
